Installation & Setup

Locki is available for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Installation takes less than a minute.

After installing the extension, follow these steps to get started:

  • Click the Locki icon in your browser toolbar to open the extension.
  • Create your first Locki Key to start encrypting and decrypting data.
  • Explore the key management options to customize your setup.
  • Open any web app with a text field, and use Locki to encrypt/decrypt inline.
  • Encrypt/decrypt functions are accessible via right-click context menu.

When the encrypted text is sent

  • The recipient must also have Locki installed to decrypt the message.
  • They will need access to the same Locki Key used for encryption.
  • Without the correct key, the encrypted data remains secure and unreadable.

Best Practices

  • Backup your keys in a secure password manager.
  • Use strong passwords for exporting keys (12+ characters).
  • Organize keys by project or team.
  • Rotate keys periodically for enhanced security.
